We no longer provide a router with our service. We used to provide them however they quickly became outdated and were the #1 reason for support calls. Technology is constantly evolving and with that evolution there comes new standards. Wi-Fi 6 is the latest standard and offers a huge improvement to the subscribers experience by providing connected devices like smart TVs, smart speakers, phones, tablets, laptops, computers and other wireless devices with a faster and more stable wireless performance in their home. We are happy to help a new subscriber choose the best Wi-Fi solution that fits their needs and budget. For any existing subscribers that still have one of our older AirCube routers we are also happy to help them choose the proper wireless router and even configure it for them.

We cannot guarantee speeds but we do strive to provide speeds that are close to or even better than the speeds we advertise.
Yes, absolutely. We actually no longer provide routers as we have learned that every home is different and not always suitable for the older single band router that we used to provide. We strongly recommend you use a new dual or tri-band WiFi-6 router. Better yet, if you have a larger home you may want to consider a whole home mesh system.
If you don’t think you need a MESH system then we would recommend this WiFi router or one with better specs.

There are a few brands that we recommend and suggest to subscribers when asked this question. While they may be a bit expensive you can usually watch for them to go on sale and you won’t regret your purchase. With these expandable MESH systems you can ensure you have excellent WiFi coverage throughout your entire home. You can easily setup and configure either of these MESH systems on your own. If you ever decide to purchase your own router or MESH system please be sure to let us know as some cables will need to be connected differently.

It has been our experience that using a WiFi extender doesn’t always work the way you had hoped and for that reason we do not recommend using them. If you are looking to extend your WiFi signal you should consider either a better WiFi router or a MESH system to properly distribute a strong WiFi signal within your home.
No, Red Sands Internet does not require you to sign any contract.
Yes, of course. In fact, the majority of subscribers work from home.
Unfortunately, occasional Internet issues are inevitable. If you have the ability to do so we recommend you check our social media pages or website to see if there are any recent posts indicating wide spread issues. Otherwise, you can contact us at 902-218-8550.
Possibly, however there are many things that can affect your speedtest results. We recommend if you run a speedtest that you only do so from a computer that is wired directly to the router. That is the only way to get the most accurate speedtest result and will show you the speed of the internet coming into your home. If you run it over WiFi then it will almost be guaranteed to be somewhat slower.
If you run the speedtest from a wired computer and are still not getting close to what you expect then there may be an issue that we would need to look at. Speeds may fluctuate for many reasons but we still expect you to get decent speeds.
If you run the speedtest over WiFi and get poor results then we would recommend a better WiFi router or MESH system.
To be honest, we really don’t like speedtests as most people run them from their phones or other wireless devices. We expect and hope that your internet service will be so good that you should never have a reason to run a speedtest.
Here is a great video that explains why your WiFi in your home could be slow.
Why is my wifi SLOOOOOW!?!?!!?!
While there should be no problems using a VoIP phone it is not something that we can provide support for. With that being said, there are a good number of subscribers that use VoIP phones without issue.
While there should be no problems using an android box most of the time we cannot guarantee they will work flawlessly. They are usually not optimized for streaming as well as some providers such as Netflix.
At Red Sands Internet, we encourage all subscribers to sign up for a free email account from GMail. If you have an email address from another provider as noted in the question then you will lose that email address when you leave that provider. If you use a free email account from GMail then it won’t matter who your provider is and you should be able to easily access your mail while travelling as well.
